I selected series such as "Between", "Landscape", "Bump", and other works created in recent years, hoping that through a special space like a large office building, I can use the Eastern philosophical vocabulary that belongs to my personal cultural background to create a dialogue with audiences of different ethnic groups, think about myself and the environment, work and life, and stimulate more sparks and find our own sense of cultural identity.
Stone sculptures are like an old friend I have known for several lifetimes, and there is an inexplicable sense of familiarity. When he was studying at the age of 18, he fell in love with stone carving for the first time and became a lifelong ambition. Perhaps the roughness of the stone texture corresponds to my informal personality; Perhaps because I believe in nature and respect this medium from the bottom of my heart, I always think that it is not only a part of nature, but also a witness to time and history. Being able to create on stone seems to be carried on a civilization that spans time and space, and excavates the inner vitality of the medium through the process of hands and emotions.Words are not only a tool for national communication, but also a symbol and record of culture. The theory of the structural system of Chinese characters such as "pictogram" and "understanding" in the six books has become the shape and symbol that I have been constantly pursuing and thinking about throughout my life. The concept of "pictograph" moves between the figured and the abstract, and expands on the basis of the "understanding" form structure, colliding with metaphysical philosophical relationships including heaven and earth, up and down, square circles, personal life and the environment and the universe. This spirit has not only accompanied me in my creative career for nearly 50 years, but has also been integrated into every work. The same theme in different eras will cause artists to create works of different shapes, and the same works exhibited in different venues will also stimulate different thoughts from the audience. For this solo sculpture exhibition at the Lihpao Culture and Arts Foundation-Caiyun Art Space, I selected series such as "Between", "Landscape", "Bump", and other works created in recent years, hoping that through a special space like a large office building, I can use the Eastern philosophical vocabulary that belongs to my personal cultural background to create a dialogue with audiences of different ethnic groups, think about myself and the environment, work and life, and stimulate more sparks and find our own sense of cultural identity.
